My passion for athletics started when I joined Havergal’s volleyball team in Grade 5. It was—and continues to be—so fun being on a team and making new friends. I also play basketball and softball, and mentor the Grade 6 Volleyball team, which has given me the opportunity to be a role model for younger athletes who are just starting out.
I’ve learned a lot about health and well-being through Havergal’s Physical Education program. In the nutrition unit, we planned and cooked a well-balanced meal for our families. The experience really showed me the importance of taking a holistic approach to wellness.
Eating nutritious meals, staying active and getting plenty of sleep are all essential, but it is also important to spend time doing the things you love, with the people you care about. For me, that means playing volleyball, taking my three dogs on long walks and enjoying a meal with my teammates, family or friends. It is all about finding habits that are not only healthy, but also make you happy.
